This is footage of my shelf queen Kyosho Vanning I got as a Christmas present back in 1986. As you can see, it was in pretty poor shape until last winter (2006) when I restored it. Lots of paint overspray had to be removed due to where it was stored. It's a roller chain driven buggy, 4WD, aluminum rail type chasses with an aluminum roll cage. The engine is the original OS .21 that came with the car.

  • I got a Vanning when I was 12. I spent hundreds of hours building it and trying to start it. I managed to drive it briefly 3-4 times before giving up and selling it for nothing. I remember vividly the clutch diagram and not understanding how it could possibly work. I chose to follow the alternate instructions for a permanently engaged racing clutch using a homemade clutch liner. That really screwed me up. My car could never stop and was hard to start. I had a blast for a couple of minutes tho!

  • Funny, I got this one at 12, and had a similar memory about the clutch. Had no idea what they were talking about for the liner, or how any of it worked. I remember working all day and night trying to put it together before xmas break ended that year; my dad and I tried getting it to start on a freezing and overcast New Years Eve day. It popped a couple of times, and that's about it. Like you, maybe ran it a handful of times, then gave up for 20 years. I'm glad I gave it another try.

  • how much you want for it

  • What makes you think it's for sale?

  • Nice Vanning, looks very beautiful, perfect restoration !!

  • Thank you. Those are your reproduction decals it's wearing BTW.

  • I have the very same one. Pretty complete. But can u get parts for theses?

  • up to 0:57 I was "Eh....boring." Then you just buried the throttle and I was all :D

Glad to see someone else who isn't afraid of the throttle! Love the buggy, loved hearing it scream!

  • @Blacklamass I had a mint condition O.S VFC running in a associated 300 bd 1/8 onroad,during the late 80's

  • I remember the Integra Vanning in the Tower Hobbies catalog when I was a kid. Man, that thing was expensive back in the day; if they still made it and it still had the same price tag, it would still cost more than most nitros out there.

    Very nice restoration! :)

  • does it have the magnum gp .10? they were a shit of an engine. Ive got a 85 mod danny thompson stadium truck 1/10th , had the gp .10 in it. I got rid of that engine and put a leo .15 in it and never looked back!

  • Reminds me of my old Silver Fox...

  • Wow. Thats quite an impressive speed out of chain drive. I have the chaindriven pickup sittin in storage. Missing a few pieces on the trans and tje moors gone. Maybe one day it will see action.

  • i know the vanning is officially 1/8 scale, but is it as big as today's 1/8? It looks smaller although it could be the angle of the camera.

  • @bfaulguy Ive had my TT Silver Fox (rip off Kyosho Landjump) now for 20 some years, never got it to run when new, even tho I was 18 then. I guess I was dumb like a 12 year old then...lol. I´m aout to get it in shape again!

  • Wow. Really impressive to see it go like that after all this time. THat engine sounds good.
