Very good!!! One of the best I've heard of this piece. I didn't like cadenza's but everything else was really good

I play the violin. We have re-seating auditions in my school's orchestra this week. This bass player has inspired me to practice hard and, when the time comes, to kick some ass.

Wow! I don't know this type of music well but that sounded really great!

@WhiteMexicanBassist Pretty sure it's just standard solo tuning.

Rinat is pretty much my favorite bassist now. I like how he can use a variety of tuning styles and still play songs from memory. Also, that bass is really beautiful, both in sound and aesthetics.

@ellis12241 viennese tuning in koussevitzky? :D haha
No, he doesnt. I think its usual solo tuning A E B Fsharp

@PacisOrbis Interlochen is a great place. Enjoy yourself there if you get in! A lot of fun in the WYSO!

This truly reminds me of my orchestra days. I am amazed at how the bassist performs his solo without any sheet music. In classical music that can be difficult. Because of the tuning, his bass sounds like a cello. To play in the lower registers would give the listeners a chance to hear the variety of notes the bass can produce.

Does he use Viennese tuning here?

type in mike cascardi for a great version of this
Amazing. Can you tell us a little about the bass?

@olejason
Rinat plays a d-bass by Matheus Albany, a gift from his colleague and friend Alexander Stepanov. He uses Pirastro Solo Eudoxa strings.
