  • lots of truth in this video, and YES evryone should watch this...BUT... is this video saying that dogs don't remember thier previous owner? if i lost my dog for a year, hell 6 years, then was re-united with w/ her..i'll bet MY LIFE she remembers me..anyone agree?

  • I don't agree with your memory theory at all. I don't understand how they could learn with out recalling from their memory what you trained them to do,

  • they dont remember do you know who hachi was, the dog that waited for his dead owner outside his work for like 10 years.

  • So if a dog gets a bone and buries it, then next week gets another bone and buries it in a new spot, you're saying that the dog will forget where it has buried the bone.

  • No doubt this video contains very good information, but I don't believe it's 100% accurate.

There's a distinct difference in my dogs demeanor when she's tinkled while I've been gone. I know immediately that she did something while I'm out. When she knows she's done something wrong I try to assess why before I decide what to do. 90% of the time, it's my screw up.

  • If they learned to duck away from a hand cause their previous owner was abusive, then obviosuly the dog remembers it's previous owner in some way.

  • this woman's an idiot. "dog's don't remember". if thats the case, then she contradicts herself by saying dogs dont remember previous owners, then says they learn to duck away from a hand because their previous owner was abusive. everyone knows that dogs work through memory, not through rationalizing every situation. this video is LAME!

  • What she's trying to say is they have Learned Behavior. They learn by repetition of positive reinforcement, not memory recall all the time. It's applied behavioral techniques that work with a dog, and WE as their owners have to learn how to teach them.

to: DRKAEPPEL: You have to reward your dog for good behavior, so catch them being quiet, use a repetitive term and give them a reward. Read more about Westies and you'll see it's a common problem and see what works for other owners.

    Good luck!

  • So our westie gets in moods where he barks seemingly at nothing. We usually tell him firmly, "no" or "no barking." Typically he slinks away and as soon as we stop looking at him, he starts doing it again. It seems sort of like neurotic behavior. He gets plenty of exercise. Should we get him a bark collar? I'm kind of at a loss..

  • Right? If they don't remember then how will they remember of what they learn? This is stupid! Dogs do have Memories

  • Yeah, i lost a dog for a few years, and i saw him, and he was like, yo wassup bro, its been forever.

So dogs have more memory than a year :D
