It's actually a rather chilling and intriguing way to begin the movie, with one of the Doctor's oldest and most dangerous adversaries being vaporised...
-
THIS would've been much more awesome!

Paul McGann: Badassest doctor..

They should have hired you. It would have been much more better and probably have brought the series back years earlier.

*Solemly* "For old times sake... Release me Doctor... You know what these monsters will do to me. Release me." *Angry with desperation* "RELEASE ME!"
Dies.
Upbeat music then plays immediately after. xD

@heathbury isn't it the shot of Skaro from the first frame of the movie?
-
So that was Anthony Ainley ! He had the role of The Master pegged pretty well.
The actors who played him ( before his final appearance ) in the new series look about as menacing as my uncle Charlie. Eric Roberts was marginally good, but he didn't seem as menacing.

The chipmunk daleks got on my nerves too.

If you search for "Doctor Who: The TV Movie: Master Voice" you'll hear the original Master voiceover, its about 50 secs in...
-
actually it was an actor called Gordon Tipple talking in the original opening and the smurf-daleks were a lot louder.
Think this is a better take on it.
It was quite good, the only thing really wrong is you the repeats of skaro turning.

Its not "Skaro" in this version - just a generic planet - though I take your point.

I purposely took out the needless reference to Skaro and the daleks - as they added nothing to the film - obviously in my revised version the sequence after the credits continues with McGann's narration which actually is a lot less confusing.
If I have time I'll add more of my edited sequences later this week.
