Me playing guitar to Is there something I should know by Duran Duran but I do not take credit for the recording playing in the background. The song is credited to Duran Duran and this particular version is off of the "Duran Duran" album so if you like the song I would recommend buying it.

  • Very nice!

The guitar chords you're playing - did Andy Taylor actually play them? Those parts (on the original Duran song) sounded more like Nick Rhodes' keyboards, if you get what I mean.

In fact even Roger Taylor's drums sounded like they were done on a Keyboard / Synthesiser on that song!

  • @makaras Yes, to the best of my ability (which admittedly isn't perfect) this is the exact part and correct chord voicing Andy Taylor is playing for the verse. Also the middle 8 should be more or less correct. I base this not only on listening to the actual recording but from video footage I've seen of Andy playing this song live.

Now as for the chorus, it doesn't have any guitar that I can make out so that part I'm just making up by playing a generic rhythm using the chords.

  • @friskyrabbit Many thanks - because this song was so "heavily produced", everything sounded rather "synthesised" - so Nick's keyboards seemed to drown out Andy's guitar on it.

Thanks for letting me know - again, a very nice cover of this song!

  • @makaras Yes, the song is heavily produced as most Duran Duran songs do tend to be but your ears are not playing tricks on you, the keyboard/synth part does follow very closely what the guitar is doing in the verse but from what I'm to understand even though the song is legally credited to the whole group (as they agreed to from the beginning) it was actually written by Andy Taylor and Simon Le Bon. It's got a very George Harrison/Beatlesque quality to the riff like the song If I Needed Someone

  • @friskyrabbit I didn't know Andy had so much input on this song - thanks!

  • @friskyrabbit WOW, I knew ITSISK sounded "Beatle-ish" - but I never heard that Beatles' song IINS before - and you are right - the Riff is very similar to Duran's ITSISK !

I also think Duran borrowed heavily from the Lyrics and Guitar of “Ticket to Ride” with ITSISK – you’ll see what I mean about the lyrics ;-)))

Thanks also for confirming about Nick's keyboards being "in synch" with Andy's guitar on ITSISK.

  • Great job!

  • You've nailed it, absoloutely note perfect, great job!!

  • Nice 1, cool playing to a cool track. One of my faves ever.

  • So good
