----
SmartSocket is an open source, extensible JAVA socket server that comes with a Flash ActionScript 3 API for easy communication with the server.

This tutorial aims at showing users how easy it is to rapidly create a clean data connection between a server and client. It also shows how easy it is to pass messages back and fourth with very little code.

  • sry but this tutorials seems to be old because tthe new version of smartsocket doesnt have the net.smartsocket.Main function....

  • @SquareTales Hey, sorry man! Every since I've released the new version I have been so lazy at trying to video document the new features. I will try and whip something up today man, I promise! Until then, Look as these examples here: tinyurl /6mvw78u (Youtube is so gay for blocking links in comments). This will be pretty much exactly what I will do in the video demo.

  • @SquareTales BTW, you should pretty much be able to copy and paste that example there. Then, just start adding in all of your own callback methods.

  • @SquareTales Just to follow up, I've re-done these tutorials today, as promised. I will take these tutorials down as soon as these other two are finished uploading.

You'll be happy to know that the new tutorials show how much faster / easier it is to setup communication between the server and the client.

The one you'll probably want will be labeled Tutorial 2, but feel free to watch the first one as well.

  • @XaeroDegreaz Hello, I'm looking for your tutorials too :)

    Thank you !

  • @bychop2 The ones marked [OUTDATED] are old. I'm only leaving them up for archive purposes. Look for the one in this playlist called "Tutorial XX" :) Hope it helps.

He is good at failing students but worst in teaching to pass his paper :(

  • @rajkumari909 Sorry; watch the HD version :) Also, these tutorials are a bit outdated; there have been a lot of upgrades to the server, so these tuts are lacking the new stuff. I was intending on creating another set of tutorials when SmartSocket 2 is released. Until then, this is all I have.
