  • No, but I'm ready to stop paying for cheaply made plastic widgets, and I'm ready for the manufacturing arena to become less crowded when most of the manufacturers become superfluous. And I'm ready for industry to be forced to innovate rather than just mass-producing iPod cases.

  • combination of mass-produced construction kit parts & custom 3d-printed bespoke components would be very interesting..

    also valuable for repair/recycling?

  • Where can I see your invention? I am also an electrician and have invented many tools and parts that pertain to the electrical field. Thanks.

  • amazing. this has been around for years, but its now getting to the point of spreading around the world. in 20-30 years, we're all going to be able to make anyone at home. we'll buy the program online whatever internet we'll have then, and "print" it out at home. new generation of instant gratification.

  • Molecular fabricators will be a lot longer than 10 years. We will start to see some similar things with DNA based assembly of electronic components and mass nanotech based production for specific things like computer processors, carbon nanotubes and solar panels but they will take in silicon and such and only produce specific things.

True assemblers would destroy the economy overnight and without some kind of technology to protect against things like nanobots will likely be very dangerous.

  • That's great. I have a patented invention and a working prototype I use on the job as an Electrician. Please have a look. I need all the contacts and help I can get! :)

    Thanks

  • this is actually a reasonably accurate appraisal of what we aught to expect. Certainly the crud factories WILL be the first to fall.

  • looking forward to it for many years now. been OC educating myself since first hearing about it. cuz u r so right.

  • i thought about making something like this, but i thought i would have to make it huge, these guys are brilliant, even if they are playing off a recurring theme or making things factory size to personalized. Still, this will allow for everyone to become inventors, remarkable!

oh an lol, sheep cell phones :P
