Artist and community builder Marcel Diallo speaks to a diverse crowd outside his Black New World Social Aid & Pleasure Club in West Oakland's Village Bottoms Cultural District as he prepares to lead a New Orleans Style Secondline Parade thru the neighborhood backed by The Truth Brass Band from New Orleans. The parade was a huge success as Diallo organized all of the diverse interests in the neighborhood to come together in the name of stopping the violence, voter registration and in the spirit of Malcolm X. City Council Candidates Greg Hodge, Nancy Nadel and Sean Sullivan were there as well as representation from West Oakland's various neighborhood associations.
