Lock On - Wingless A-10

Something went horribly wrong during this A-10 mission and I lost my entire left wing, and most of my right wing. By keeping my speed up, I was able to maintain control of the aircraft, amazingly, and was able to take out one BMD without ECM.

I know most of the video is boring, but watch the emergency landing...

Agreed... it's a little unrealistic, but from a game designer's point of view, I completely understand how much memory it would consume, and the extra physics that would need to be implemented. It's a sacrafice in realism for the sake of smooth gameplay, and I would have made the same choice. =D

Am surprised how no one (especially the pilots here) has asked how the plane seems to have full roll authority (banking) without any ailerons. All you have access to here is pitch and yaw, but have lost your roll control surfaces.

Very cool game though, one of my favourite simulators, and is quite realistic. But this is definitely a bug in the software.

If you look through all the comments, you will see that people DID in fact ask about the roll. Examine the right wing closely: there is still a little aileron remaining, which gave me very slight rolling ability. You will notice that I'm unable to do snap rolls or anything of the sort.

I don't think you should have been able to roll the aircraft like you did at @0:32 because you didn't have any ailerons. Did you have the flight model on easy or something?

@Mobyus microsoft fligth simulators did this. the game play here looks thw same. I havnt played this game so I cant say how simmiler they really are. just that they look simmiler

@CanadianStalker that could also be debatable. there were a very short line of a10s that had ailrons as the elivators. all you had to do is flip a switch and it would worn with the foot pedals

@mobyus in the (oh so wonderful) F-15 accident, the pilot gave full throttle and afterburners aswell. This way he got out of the spin. But as far as I know, the A-10 has no afterburners, nor a capability of flying above mach 1, like the F-15 did. Also, the wings should've been snapped into the same width to maintain equal lift.

@lionsforlyons if the f-15 could do it y not the a-10 itwould be impossible to yaw if the plane was like this video but the a-10 would play okay as long as the speed was up. its basicly a missle with engines
