How to setup a fishing rod (pole) Pt.1 of 2

Ok, now I love to fish, and many of you might. This is a two part vid on how two set up a fishing rod (pole), and related information. NOTE: Fishing Rod's are some times called Fishing poles here in the South, PLEASE note I call it a ROD, All be it most funny to find so many can't hear that being said. Just a friendly little just so u know to those haters.

The rods in the ugly stick line up offer a well balanced rod with a grip equal to the task at hand!

The question is what kind of fish are u going after? Are u looking to invest in a rod that will handle bass and take on catfish? This is important, in that the best all around is going to be the Med. Action rod, of any brand. The amount of control needed in both bass and cat fishing are vastly different to the action of pan-fish and trout let me know?

I've been lure fishing for pike for the past week and don't know a lot about rods. Can you please explain what the difference is between a cylinder reel with the hoops on the rod on the bottom. And a sideways reel with the hoops on the top of the rod?

i got a 7.5 foot pole....i'm using a light weight sppon lure...i'm wondering....since i got to tie a weight to it....how far away from the lure should it go?....5 inches to 10 inches?
