Oh, I see where you're coming from. You're saying it's sexist toward *men*. I thought you were saying it was somehow sexist against women. I can understand how you see this commercial as being sexist toward men, and I agree with you that the whole "all-men-are-idiots" stereotype is annoying.
It's sexist because it's one of many commercials where it's a man who is depicted in a negative light. In mouse trap commercials it's always a man who is dressed up as the mouse, it's always men getting hurt or hit (e.g. AllState commercials), they also represent germs, odors, etc... they are always portrayed as stupid and annoying.
A role reversal would never happen, only women are portrayed in a positive way and men are portrayed in a negative way.
I'm a feminist, but I truly don't understand how him being male makes the commercial sexist. Do you think it's sexist because the mucus should be represented by the same gender as the congestion sufferer? If their roles were switched, and the man had the congestion and the woman was playing the role of the mucus, would it then be sexist because a woman was playing the denigrated role of mucus?
I'm not trying to offend you. I really wonder why you think it's sexist. :)

@theignoredgender hey don't feel bad. Here's a commercial depicting women as mud: just type swifter wet jet commercial mud and mop.
