Gary Holub is acknowledged as the most active and committed Yenko collector ever, with forty-four Yenko machines either currently in his collection or having passed through his ownership. This Daytona Yellow Yenko Camaro is one of the members of that club. Originally sold from Yenko Chevrolet in 1969 and one of only 27 equipped with the 400 Turbo Hydra-Matic, the car had a successful career on the East Coast as a competitor in the NHRA's SS/E Automatic class.
While it still wears the livery of its drag racing career, the car has otherwise been restored to its original state. As its intended mission would suggest, the car is equipped with few options. The Black interior features standard bucket seats, an AM radio and tilt steering, while dealer-installed items include the special console-mounted Hurst shifter, below-dash gauges, Sun tach and Yenko badges.
Beyond its uniqueness as a Yenko car it has the distinction of being the most thoroughly documented Super Camaro and the only one with all its sale paperwork signed by the man himself, Don Yenko. That might never have been known had it not been for a vigilant gentleman named Walter Denorshek. A Yenko employee, Denorshek happened to notice a pile of old papers thrown into a dumpster during a move to a new location. The paperwork for this car was part of the materials rescued that day by Mr. Denorshek, whom we can all thank for saving important documents crucial to the Yenko legacy.
Highlights:
- Daytona Yellow with Black interior
- 427/450 hp engine
- Automatic transmission (Turbo-Hydramatic)
- AM radio
- Power steering
- Yenko Atlas Cast Aluminum wheels
- Power front disc brakes
- Extensive documentation
- Only Yenko with paperwork signed by Don Yenko
This guy lives in my home town and I graduated high school with his nephew. I've had the honor of checking out his shop and cars, he has an impressive collection of 1st gen. Camaro's.

@Eddiemotor - But this isn't a show car, it's a race car and a single four barrel carburetor is the way to go when maximum power is the goal.

Wow, look at the yellow paint, that's Daytona Yellow all way down.
And the black interior, nice combination imo.
I think a 427 BBC looks best when equipped with a 3x2 Carb manifold, it looks so sporty so to say, not to mention it looks powerfull to.
