July 31, 2008: Navy crewman's cigarette appears to have sparked a fire that caused $70 million in damage to the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington
I was there for that too except I was stuck up on the bridge. Next few days were wild though. I remember going down the AC &R shop for cleanup and seeing some dude's PS3 melted flat. The crazy thing is that the space just outside the room with the cableway that fire started in was packed with acetylene and propane tanks. That fire could have been a lot worse.
just proves the point that save the ship first before saving lives is total bullshit! Any human being who has a soul and moral values would do anything to save those for guys! i was on the ship also, and even though i dind't fight the fire, i did everything that i could to help those who actually were putting their lives on the line "not for the ship" but for the guys who were trapped! that is the TRUE meaning of Honor Courage and Commitment!!!
@cathead337 It must have taken a lot of thought to come up with a response like that. I also am glad I don't deal with immature people such as yourself anymore.
read the responses below and you will see why I got out of the navy. that shit happens constantly, speed and angels is a douchebag. glad i dont have to deal with people like him anymore. I was there for this too btw
You didn't do crap during that fire. Oh you went and did gas free tests the next day. Congratulations. Too bad you couldn't hack it or you would still be in. And if you had communications with them then why did the captain come over the 1MC and say that we had lost communication with them? Good come backs as well. Real original. NO IT WAS YOU IN THERE... LOL! Ok booter say what you want... I know I was there, you were there, I did shit, you did something... and we will leave it at that.
haha, im outta the navy by now you clown. booter? just provin my point that you are borderline retarded and dont even know what you're talkin about. they were in the control room, we had communications with them. we knew they werent dead. you literally have no idea what you're talkin about do you? if anyone was cleanin food stores, it was you. i put out more fires that day than you'll probably ever see in a lifetime. just stop before you fall too far behind you fat fuck
Talk to the people who were sleeping on the deck in some random spot because they couldn't go back to their berthing. And if no one thought they were dead or severely injured then why cut through bulkheads and everything else? I know exactly what I am talking about. Stop acting like the booter you are and try to sound like you have some intelligence. You probably had fun because you were cleaning out the food stores. It wasn't all fun and games. Those of us that aren't morons know that DCFN.
Ok when people are responding and communicating and then all communication ceases and there is no response for quite some time one possibility is that they are dead. And to say that NO ONE thought they were dead is an ignorant statement. And I know exactly what I am talking about because while you were up on the second deck helping people I was down on the 4th, 5th, 6th decks actually on a fire team. And it was a blast eating MRE's, no AC and having half the ship in darkeness.
