I am making maidenhair fern syrup and thought I'd do a video on the process. This is pretty much how any home syrups are made. You can either boil the plant material, which is best for tougher plant material, or make a sun tea with it. Strain and measure the amount of liquid you have. Heat on low and add double the amount of honey. Honey is a great preservative and also has its own medicinal qualities.

I also show a couple pictures of violet sun tea in the making.

  • Is the dosage 10-15 drops for the syrup or the tincture?

  • @starvingtech I'm horrible for making vids, my mind wanders too much.;-) 10 - 15 drops would be for the tinture, when you are really sick, drop it back to 5-10 when you're recovering. For the syrup that I show how to make you need 3 Tablespoons 3 times a day for up to 2 weeks. Then take 4 or 5 days off and you can take another week's worth of doses.

  • What do you think about catnip?. I recently make an extract of it by taking about 3 handfulls of the leaves, and ground it up in the blender with some water and squeezed it through a fine strainer (cloth works just as good). I put some in tea, and they say its relaxing and good for lung problems.
