Well, not including the camera or lenses, at the time it was probably all around $6000, I'm sure it's cheaper now.

They are from the Red Rock Micro company...you can get them off their website, or they might be at a place like B and H by now.

I wish I could use f5.6 on my lens.. I have a letus extreme and I start to see grain around f2.8 :( so I stick with 1.4 or 2 hahaha

is it better to flip the adapter upsided down, so it doesn't sit awkardly when placed donw on the rods?

It's up to you...usually the decision is based on the tripod you are using. If you are using a sliding tripod plate like on a Bogen, you'll probably have the adapter upside down. If you are using a quick release plate like a Sachtler you can bottom mount it. The rails also play a role...I've heard with Zacuto rails it doesn't make a difference which way.

Well, you can definitely get good results with a HV30, but the quality of the camera certainly contributes to the overall sharpness and color of the image. The Letus footage in this video was off a HPX-170, shooting DVCPro HD 720/30p, and a EX-3, shooting XDCam EX 1080/24p, both of which are superior HD formats to the HDV your HV30 offers.
