Coup in Honduras: Military Ousts President Manuel Zelaya Democracy Now 6/29/2009 1 of 2

In the first military coup in Central America in a quarter of a century the Honduran military has ousted the democratically-elected President Manuel Zelaya. Former Parliamentary speaker Roberto Micheletti who was sworn in as Zelayas replacement on Sunday has imposed a two-day nation-wide curfew. But hundreds of Zelaya supporters remain on the streets and shots were fired at protesters near the Presidential palace early Monday morning. We go to Honduras to speak with Honduran medical doctor and award-winning human rights activist, Dr. Juan Almendares and NYU professor of Professor of Latin American History, Greg Grandin.

Constitutional Republics like both The United States & Honduras alike are not about mob rule! If Zelaya had wanted only to change the Constitution then he should have seen it done legally by the Honduran Congress! Mob rule doesn't override the Constitution. The founders wanted it that way to prevent demagogues from rising to power. He's using Eva Golinger (Hugo Chavez's international PR figure), NarcoNews (fringe far-left publication, part of the American Left establishment), TeleSur (Venezuelan Chavista state media with funding from the Cuban government among other sources) as "reliable sources".
