This is a place that leaves you scratching your head and asking, "How is it I've never heard of this place or visited it before? It's a bit of a well-kept secret, but the word is getting out about this amazing 560-acre woodland playground that rises to a colorful peak in October with Fall colors and spawning salmon. The parkland is home to the Salmon River, the only undammed waterway of the lower Columbia River that begins in the Cascades and flows to the sea. It offers three remarkably unique hiking trails -- two of which are barrier free -- and offer you opportunity to see fall colors and salmon. We explore the Wildwood Wetlands Trail and the Cascade Streamwatch Trail. The most remarkable highlight of the CS Trail is a stream-profile viewing chamber where you step down below water level to gain an underwater "fish-eye" view of a small stream and salmon habitat.
