U.S. Media Tribute to Highway of Heroes

U.S. news rarely pays attention to news from Canada, but a touching tribute by Canadians to it's fallen war heroes has caught the attention of the U.S. media

As a very common bumper sticker in Canada states: "If you don't stand behind our soldiers, feel free to stand in front of them." We may not support our nation's reasons for sending our brave young men and women into harm's way, but dammit, they all know they have a job to do, and we should all feel immensely proud of the fearless and selfless manner in which they all serve, no matter how popular the action is. The young people who serve in our name, whether they are killed or not, are heroes!

@TheJayWar That's right. All through the war I've always said, support the troops, protest the mission. I don't believe Canada has any business being in Afghanistan. We have never been the target of a foreign terrorist attack, real or false flag. We were too quick to join in. Thank God our part in it is ending.

Working as temp at MTO Sign Shop, Toronto, when the order for 12 highway signs came in. You know them, the large reflective road signs posted on the side of Hwy 401, stretching from CFB to Toronto. We had 5 days to complete them. It was an honor helping make the signs with a great bunch (12) of men. Even today, every time I pass one I get a lump in my throat (you know, the same lump as yours) and am proud to have been a small part of it, especially to be a Canadian.

@raider44ish You are ashamed for brave men and women who volunteer to help a country in need? Canada has it so great with people, strength, and diversity that we almost don't need to worry so much. We as a nation need to provide the help that a distressed country needs. I am not saying you are wrong as we are all entitled to our opinions.

At least some American news programs respect Canada... Unlike fox who bashes out military while men and women return dead. Im still not pleased to the least with Americans but at least some out there have respect for our war efforts and our dead. Great to read the comments on this video respecting our Canadian heroes. Well to those and only those people I am happy to share a border.

@allegropizzicato I would never stand before a fellow countryman..But it comes down to the voting booths...And even that makes me cringe..They have a job to do yes...to Serve Canada..Not anybody else,and be thrown in harms way for others ideas...If my family were attacked i'd lay down my life..Those soldiers were selfless and the Canadian government sent em into a war they didn't even belong in...Greed and money and power will always be the cause..don't buy into the bullshit...

You probably wouldn't understand that.There were Canadians in those towers too and we need to make sure it never happens again even if we have to chase them half way around the world and kill them.. that's right Kill them.....DEAD. This womans son did NOT die for nothing.. smarten up!
