Bernie and Lacy - Danny Horn

A Camden love story

Burnie lit a cigarette and thought of Mary Antoinette,
All the diamond sequence of her dress was in his mind.
Lacy wore a flower skirt, egyptian ring and yellow shirt,
Dreaming of the 60's and the man she'll never find.
Bernie left his Camden flat and tripped over the neighbors cat,
Went down to the Market where he had to buy some shoes,
Lacy walked below the moon and ran into a weatherspoons,
Vodka was her demon but nobody really knew.

Bernie and Lacy can fly
Honey cakes and apples are the flavours in the sky
Bernie and Lacy never met,
But if they did they'd have a love they never could forget

Bernie smoked another one and read the paper in the sun,
reading bowt his starsign which said he should stop and think,
Lacy loved to play guitar in a Camden tapas bar,
Playing for no money just a promise of a drink,
Bernie found a quiet place, the light was green upon his face,
With a pretty lady singing who was playing the guitar,
Lacy played a Dylan song but got the second chorus wrong,
She had been distracted by a stranger at the bar

Bernie and Lacy can fly

Bernie watched her play while, her songs where charming, made him smile
Not a great guitarist but her voice was really sweet
Lacy played her final tune and left the stage and crossed the room,
Suddenly she tripped over another persons feet,
Bernie jumped to help her up, 'I'm sorry I am such a clutz',
She just laughed and thanked him but her cheeks where turning red,
Lacy thought she knew his face but hadn't seen him in this place,
He was in her head that night whilst she did lay in bed
