Gregory Johnson demonstrates how to resolve light streaks in printing by cleaning the print jets and, if necessary, disabling defective jets and substituting them with another. This video applies to the Xerox Phaser 8500 series of printers such as the 8550, 8560, and the other Xerox solid ink printers.

  • Someone commented, "When you substitute jets the paper takes two passes. So your print speed will be cut almost in half. The paper has to go back and make another pass through the drum to finish the disabled jets area. I would call Xerox if your in warranty and you have clogged jets. They will replace or repair the printer."

I accidentally removed their comment. I meant to click on reply, but YouTube has no "undo" feature unfortunately.

  • In any event, I've not noticed any performance loss in speed or quality loss due to jet replacement. I think Xerox uses the Jet replacement because they know this issue does come up. Jet replacement is built-into the main menu because it's a known issue. If it caused a significant slowdown, they wouldn't even bother with it, I'd think.
