Oni's Top 20 Anime Openings - Part 3 (10-6)

Note: All openings have been judged by their song choice and visuals.

Well, we're getting close to the top 5. Well, this time the anime the openings open for are more diverse than they were. See, I told you it was a coincidence!

Also, a cookie to the user who can name where the music used at the start comes from.

#10 - This opening was mostly chosen for its song choice. The song is just so devilishly fitting to what is happening behind it, which is to be expected from most openings. However, this song was written just for Higurashi (note: The song title is the same as the series title).

#9 - The way machinery was implemented here (most notably the Reiji Maigo device) was what clinched it for me, as was the excessive use of the elements (mostly fire). Plus, the song is pretty fiery itself.

#8 - Just check out that 3DCG! Being what I think is Initial D's best opening, just beating out 2nd stage's opening for me. It uses scarce English, but at least it is literal. You know, understandable?

#7 - Well, other than the fact that this is the great CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA, it also has the best animation out of all of Dragon Ball's openings. Kai's opening would have made it, had the song not been as cheesy as it was. I'm sure everyone knew this would make the list.

#6 - Air. Great anime, great visual novel, great opening. Even just when the title appears, where the boy and girl hold hands, is very well done. Plus, how the silouettes become the daylight sky. The last 5 seconds is also one of the best bits as well, showing the characters against a very bright, white, background. You also get an extreme sense of Summer, as it was Key's Summer VN. All of the parts showcasing Haruko were very well done too, her emotions are very clear.

a pretty good Top 20 so far, but why did you choose The Dragon Ball Z opening? I think the Opening for Dragon Ball Kai is way better :-)

Ah, two reasons:

A) Nostalgia goggles. I hae been a long time DBZ opening, so making an already good opening even better was awesome.

B) There are quite a few errors in the animation for Kai's opening. There are quite a few stills showing the the frames where they occur.

(B)Though there maybe some errors in Kai's animation the overall quality is much higher than this opening's.

(A)Sadly, I can't beat the nostalgia goggles with any argument I have :-( .
