As far as I know this is just 'banjo tuning'. Started by Earl Scruggs. Originaly he used to just turn the keys but then a gadget was designed to do the 'tuning songs' better. I believe the gadgets are called 'D' tuners. I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.... What do I know, I just ran the camera :)
