Obama calls for gun law reform

President Barack Obama has urged US politicians to "have the courage" to seek compromise and reform the nation's gun laws.

He's appointed Vice-President Joe Biden to head a task force charged with seeking policy solutions.

There is no distinction between "Republic" and "Democracy". America is in fact both. Being explicitly against democracy is something that's kind of against the Constitution that you claim to swear by. Representative democracy is kind of the point.

uhm.... there already is a limit... No matter what there will always be "sick and twisted" people in this world, and as long as our stupid media keeps sensationalizing it... well that doesn't help either.

I think there should at least be strict laws considering ownership; such as frequent mental health checks, and there should be a limit on fire power and the amount of guns one person can own. This wouldn't eradicate the problem obviously - there would still be firearms in circulation and mentally stable people who would abuse their right, but it would help.
