With Anne Hathaway's recent Frankenstein of a British accent in One Day, I thought I'd compile a video of other American actors attempting to conquer the Queen's English.

  • No such thing as a British accent.

  • Josh Hartnett and Mischa Barton were definitely even worse than Anne Hathaway. My god

  • anne hathaway is fuckin annoying in everything

  • @MsterJames Ha! Don Cheadle is not British, at all!

  • Was Josh Hartnett taking the piss?

  • @MsterJames Don Cheadle isn't British.

  • oceans 13 was actually a british guy doin a cockney accent you do realise?

  • funny as fuck

  • Anne Hathaway's wasn't that bad really, not great but certainly not bad, Nicolas Cage was intentionally doing a bad accent as a joke, Natalie Portman's was good in my opinion, but it looks bad out of context. I can see nothing wrong with Marlon Brando to be honest I thought that was probably the best of the lot. But Keanu Reeves, fair play to you, his was awful, but perhaps it wasn't fair to ask him to act and do an accent at the same time, it's a pretty big ask for him.

  • Portman's accent was really good.

  • @TheSaintAza indeed. The various British accents and dialects, are much more diverse and complex then the "standard American accent" as you put it. exactly. Natalie Portman is a genius, can't recall any other American actors that have managed to pull it off.

  • @TheMeanmaori I understand mate, you are right, I try to tell people the same thing. I was born in England, although I am not technically English. the title of the video is "British accents", meaning its plural. There is no one British accent, the word does not exist, but there are British accents, like Welsh, Scottish etc...
