You get no disagreement from me. I was merely pointing out that the lyrics were indeed re-worked a bit before publishing. That in no way justifies stealing.

@Gumlegs great....but, don't think the "clean up" justifies keeping the recognition, proceeds, and royalties from the man and his family for 100 years or how ever long its been. If it does, I know a few things I'd love to steal and "clean up" so I can take ownership and all future proceeds, lol

@DreamsCumTrue469 Well ... Tony Jackson's version was cleaned up just a little bit for the general public.

After years of credit omission, its now well documented that this song was written by New Orleans Ragtime pianist Tony Jackson, not Gus Kahn or anyone else from Tin Pan Alley. It was common practice in Tin Pan Alley to appropriate others music for profit since most of these individuals lacked either the resources or any legal support in the courts to challenge the theft. Millions were stolen and the pickin was easy.

They are so much alike, it is so sad that we have no huge number of the two of them together, even though we do have her singing several of his signature songs, incuding, of course, "You Made Me Love You."
