I want Europe to become a strong Federation and kick all nationalistic asses.

Long live EU!

@RattytheSecond Meaningless for us. Deciding how big a chair must be doesnt exactly effect you does it? And we need to make regulations therefore we have them making laws.
And yes i would agree with you on that EU is a paper tiger.
Ehm how exactly are people revolting the EU?
People don't know the EU and they are therefore scared of it. Once ireland got to vote for the second time, the public was informed! They voted yes because they actually knew what they were voting for.

From last email: Russia hasn't enemies here the eu wouldn't stand a chance with them. Probably why Ukraine doesn't want NATO membership or the EU. They'd be 1st on the Russian list as it would bring a military block up to its borders;they're very sensitive about that due to past history. My girlfriend’s Ukrainian so I'm glad about the rejection of NATO. MrGilles will be referring to his government. Most people in Britain despise politicians, as they've been lied to, & cheated, too often by them.

@FcK2420 If it makes meaningless laws what's the point of it? If it can't declare war, it's a paper tiger. Paper tigers have often been eaten up by the real tigers of the world. Also MrGilles is correct, if much more power is taken by the eu; then people will begin to resist it ergo: wars of independence. A real threat to it could be I emphasis "could be" Russia. Its becoming very much wealthier with it's oil. Interestingly its spending vast sums on arms. e.g. 8 new carrier groups now building.

@LORDMCHUGH I see what you mean in one way. That is huge trading block = vastly greater power. In reality where & who would that power go to? It wouldn't go to individual governments politicians & countries; except maybe Germany & France who founded it. The EU organisation would get the lot. Countries independence would vanish; but the EU like the USSR would be vastly more powerful (& unanswerable to anyone; as it already is). But especially to "we" mere people, as occured to people in the USSR.

You're right. No one asked us in Britain if we wanted the EU. The EEC was only just accepted after a very pro-campaign by the government which wouldn't be accepted as even handed now, since public respect for politicians has just vanished since those days (1975) in Britain. We weren't asked when it morphed from EEC to EC, or about the EC morphing to the EU with national symnols, political power etc. If you're under 54 in the UK you'll have never been asked about anything regarding the EU.

@Panteleon How do you know? I don't know either way. However, believing in true democracy I would put it to the vote. A simple vote that is made directly by the people, with international monitors making certain no vote rigging occurs. The question could be along the lines of: "Do you want (your country) to remain part of the eu?" "Do you not want (your country) to remain a part of the eu?" What could be more simple or fair than that? Also there'd be no way of misinterpreting it. So no re-votes.

@erakingofsea In 2008 Germany was the 3rd largest economy in the world; it seems you're slipping a little. Also regarding Greece a country with a population of around 9 million, you'll have to "save", in all probability: Ireland, Portugul, Spain and perhaps Italy too. You'd better get ready to part with some serious cash. The Eastern Europeans don't want to be part of the eu either, from what I've heard from them. As for "Kicking ass", I thought the eu was a peaceful organisation?

@luvdupraver maybe you will say no, but dont pretend to speak for all europeans, cause there are a lot that would say YES!
europe is coming, assume it!
Why are you proud of it, Mr Barroso?
We never asked you to create it.
But no matter, pride is more important than serving the people you claim to represent.
If you asked us and we said "yes" then there'd be no problem.
But you won't ask us, because you know we we would say "no".
It is this blunt-headed pride that is so off-putting. It is what makes people want to say "no".
All of this smugness, this giggling, all of this "we know better" arrogance isn't going to be funny for much longer.
