Haifa Israel has the world shortest subway, the Carmelit. It is actually an underground Funicular railway (cable). 2 trains run on a single track with a passing siding in the middle. The line is rather steep. This is the top most station, note how steep the train is climbing

  • That is not a subway that is a tram underground.

  • @TrainSounds, If you want to be technical, it is not a tram either, but an underground funicular (counter-balance cable railway cars). But the term subway is just means underground railway.
