Howard can't stand black and white movies. Why NOT color them and turn the color off on the TV? Makes sense to me.

  • When asked if CNN could colorize Citizen Kane, Orson Welles replies:

"Tell Ted Turner to keep his crayons off my film!"

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV "Yes, and there are no fishsticks like Mrs. Pells mmmm yes, MMM YES, they're even better in black and white!"

  • I used to do that. Watch colorized movie with the color nob turned down. Nowadays, TVs don't really have that option. At least not any of the ones I own.

Unfortunately, there was so much backlash for colorization that you can hardly get them anymore. There were some movies I actually did prefer colorized.

Now they want to turn all the movies 3D. Yeah... like THAT isn't destroying classics. 3D is actually worse.

  • @Neilsama I love the sudden lunge towards 3D which is a backwards turn when the fad died years ago

  • do you have any richard simmons on the stern show? that's some of the funniest crap ive ever heard

  • @bbv001 I doubt it. I MIGHT, BIG might.

  • @BoredOfFakeTalents Actually a guy named Cotte did blow her up -- 24 sizes. The Mona Lisa is in high res now. ;)

  • @maikeru01 Making it delicious?

  • Black & White is beautiful.

  • Colorizing Citizen Kane would be like blowing up the Mona Lisa ten sizes.

  • Citizen Kane is not a great movie because of it's plot. It was revolutionary from the perspective of film making. It had all new kinds of lighting techniques, camera tricks, angles, cut-aways, and other editing tricks, that nearly every movie since then has adopted. I agree that it sucks but that's because it's 2010 and we're jaded to it's what used to make it stand out. If you screw with the picture quality and it'll be totally worthless. Colorizing it is like putting bacon on your salad.

  • Howard Stern's correct, 'Ctizen Kane' is over-rated.

    Cheers!
