  • Alison Krauss has got to have the most beautiful voice ever. Perfect for this Zeppelin song.

  • I had just watched Ann and Nancy Wilson's acoustic effort of this and it was great!

But, chills went up when I watched this one.

The first photo I saw of them together, I couldn't help but picture the twinkle in Plant's eye saying "dig this blue grass hottie, next to me!"

  • @yaasha23 Ni-i-i-i-i-ce call! Yes was an amazing group, and "Awaken" was one of their very best. Usually such long songs of the era were rather self-indulgent (especially considering that it took up much of one side of an LP), but these guys could play their arses off! Wakeman, especially, was unparalleled (IMHO) for the time. Thanks for bringing back the memory (I hadn't thought about it for decades, probably!)!

  • Robert dropped his vocals down and octave in this updated version....smart move, sounds great!!

  • @gvanbusk I couldn't agree with you more completely. BTW Awaken . . glad that you mentioned it . A powerful paean of ecstatic adulation, (whew!) as envisioned by Yes from the album, Going for the One.

  • Alison Krauss has the only voice I've heard that can compare to Sandy Denny's on the original.

    Amazing.

  • crjules -- a true fan of Zep would know that this is very much the way the original was done, with Fairport Convention's Sandy Denny singing the part that Alison Krauss is doing here. Very much an old English folk-type treatment... hardly country. BTW, old English folk-type is very similar to bluegrass, which is why Krauss knocks it out of the park (as did Denny). Not "A Whole Lotta Love" - but Zep was way more than "just" that. Awaken.

  • bring it back - bring it back

please - please one more time it's fantastic

  • Funny, I've also been a LZ fan for 20 years now... and I found this truly amazing :)

  • This is the perfect song for them to do together...They both get to 'showcse' their individual talent and pay a great homage to Led Zepplin at the same time...They are Both Great Performers! (of course) !!!
