I love all of Cliff's appearances on Solid Gold. I had to miss most of the performances as I worked during the show. No VCRs then! Thank you for the post.

Marilyn is just one of the most beautiful people to ever walk on Earth.

This song is so much better as a duet! I never did like it with just Cliff singing it. I do love both Cliff and Marilyn, though.

@piles...that's funny, same thing here. I was like 8 or 10 when it was on and I would be irritated when she would sing the no. 9 song (or whatever) bc I wanted to hear the originals. When Solid Gold ended, I never saw her again and I never knew her before. It wasn't until yrs later I realized she was a major star in her own right, not just a 1st-rate bombshell karaoke singer
Going through these old clips, some of them aren't too bad actually. Her Hall & Oates "One on One" is terrible though

Can I see one performance where Marilyn McCoo disappoints her fans? She's amazing everytime I see a clip of her. I want to see one where she fllops. Just one! I have yet to find even one.

i think mccoo could even turn john mayer's penis to stone.

It;s more enjoyable to listen two people singing that song!
How did her career stall? Was it a matter of the right songs or was it just that the styles of music went away from the master singers....

Thanks for your comments. You ask a good question re: Marilyn's career. I think this duet is one of the best from Solid Gold, which in a way was her career into the 80's. Superb vocal color, lush tone, and good match of song to her 'style'. It would have been great if one of the singles from "Solid Gold" had soared up the charts -- that probably would have lead to another album in the 80's. Check out "Heart Stop Beating in Time" and "I Believe in You and Me", both singles from her 1983 album.
