Dr. Eng Roberto Handwerker (DELTA Ingegneria) showed system for receiving energy from aTesla coil, using a metal plate or even a spherical "antenna" to run an electric motor. A type of Tesla coil was showed at Verona (Italy) Wireless Meeting on april 15, 2011 in front of more than 100 people, among them personalities of Academic world, Industry, Engineers, local TV and press.

Better electrolytic, V & freq are important; insulated plate: the higher the better. Absolutely no house GND !  ;-)

Is there some reason why it must be an electrolytic cap? If so, do you know why that is? Also, are the voltage and capacitance of the cap very important?

Finally, I thought it was only supposed to work that well when the insulated plate was elevated high above the ground. Are you just using the ground on your house circuits?
