She looks and sounds like an angel here. Her voice, and indeed her face, is timeless... unbeatable in everything she does - and I respect her so much for specialising so completely, for knowing where she excels. Carry on EK! You are a joy to have in the world!

voice of the angels!

holy shit she is amazing.. I love her voice so much. I love this. Choir and any (amazing) vocal work is the best thing in the world. So beautiful. I can look forward to this stuff in life. God has really blessed her :)

To whoever says this is an incorrect interpretation given its scoring for soprano, you are mistaken. If you realized there are MULTIPLE versions of Messiah, you will find that this particular score (Foundling Hospital version - which was the last score as far as I know) lends this aria, among others, to a soprano. In fact this score requires TWO sopranos. So before you condemn this performance, know your facts.

Definitvamente Emma Kirkby es una intérprete espectacular!!! la mejor de música antigua que hasta hoy he escuchado. Ojalá alguien pudiera proporcionarme las partituras de esta obra se los agradecería!

Emma Kirkby sigue siendo inigualable...

@gramps2matt So what?

I believe this is the Foundling Hospital version of Messiah...this piece is scored for soprano... maybe look into it a bit further...

I'm afraid you are wrong: in Baroque culture there is wider leeway for a wider alottment of pitch for any piece
to the contrary: this piece specifically has been more often been recorded with contratenor and higher pitch roles than with bass or bariton.
But anyone is entitled to have ones' preferences intact and respected

i voted dislike because this is a aria for BASS not Soprano.
Emma is the BEST!
