If I introduce a topic, am I obligated to offer the fix & have the answer? Do you want answers spoon-fed to you, or do you wish to think for yourself? Should we not share information if we cannot yet solve it? Could it be that by sharing information, we can arrive at answers?

The following comment was left for me only hours ago & it mirrors those from so many from Americans.

*I agree man, but my problem with your posts is: where are the solutions? What do you suggest be done. You paint a grim picture, and its true, but the fact that such a grim picture exists necessitates a solution. Something MUST be done.
Any solutions?*

'Doers' can provide the information. Doers can provide input or even provide answers. Americans seem lazy when, instead of participating in the discussion and contributing ideas, they simply ask to be spoon-fed the answer.

  • Why do people need answers? will it help them find happiness?

just get on with it I say!

"There are lots of ways of being miserable, but there's only one way of being comfortable, and that is to stop running round after happiness. If you make up your mind not to be happy there's no reason why you shouldn't have a fairly good time. "

  • TX. Americans usualy would rather have relief/gratification/lies rather than truth when truth is harsh. America has sooo many forms of instant gratification. One day life may be unsustainable because to many problems are going un-solved.

Theres nothing wrong with pointing out a problem but not having the solution, because the first step IS awareness of the problem.

  • I like your way of thinking. Even if I do not especially always agree with you.

    Greetings from Belgium

  • @Rain807646 The irony of your reaction. Your attempt at packaging truth as something that always feels good leads you right back to the title. Look up this vid on youtube

"Optimism at the expense of truth"

packaging all truth as feeling good is just your effort at making the truth responsible for making you feel good. it's not dude. it just is. telling me my niece died may be true, but it don't feel good. check out that vid though. it's about you

  • The irony of that title.

Truth can only make people feel so called "good" emotion. It is only a lie we think is true that make people feel the so called "bad" emotions.

  • Speaking as an American (United States), I'm very interested in controversial topics.

Having said that, I'm much more comfortable in a situation where a possible solution or alternative is offered along with said topics. Of course, I also find myself questioning such solutions based on the fact that they were so easily offered.

In cases where possible solutions AREN'T offered, I try to come up with my own. Unfortunately, these alternatives are idealized and rarely real-world applicable.

I am from Australia, as you probably are aware by now!

What we generally observe, from this end, is there are 2 major personalities from the US.

    1. The outspoken, opinionated, influencial, almost narssistic attitude.

    2. the lamb

We very rarely see, from the states, an unbias person that truly has debate in mind that carefully omits any direction to the moderation of their own opinion.

Please accept this with all due respect!

  • @ 1:22

If you pose a Q and an opinion, in the same video, to a controvercial topic, the most ethical choice is to keep 'your' personal opinion out of the equation.

If you have a personal opinion about a controvercial subject, then you are asserting 'your' opinion.

& Ed, as you, personaly have alot of subscribers & therefore an influence + your personal opinion, you have an ethical responsibility to be unbias.

Anything less than that is what 'Fox News' is!

    It is called a demagoguery!

  • I've been lost in the finding happiness circle cycle for years now I can see why it doesn't help.

  • Instant gratification attributed to Americans maybe a media based idea.

Americans are just problem solvers, so they seek solutions, not for instant gratif. but for the need to resolve conflict or a problem or challenge.

americans tend to be "proactive" on things. Others will take their time on certain things or will live with it, ( accept things as is ) as opposed to Americans, who will not settle and seek resolution to things. We seek happiness. We seek it.

  • I disagree with the premise that Europeans are less religious than Americans... Maybe you are thinking of a particular country in Europe. But your blanket statement is I thinkg erroneous.

i actually think most European nations. are very religious.

  • The "happy ever after" comes from the media, movies and Disney. I have noticed this pattern and I'm not American. I believe that it is enough to draw attention to the issue, create awareness, have a discussion with open minded people and then come to the individuals own conclusion. Love your work!
