A special school in the Mexican state of Veracruz is trying to keep alive an ancient artform practiced by the Totonac tribe - the Ceremony of the Flyers, also known as the Ritual Ceremony of the Voladores. The School for Volador Children is trying to preserve the ancient ritual of the Totonac tribe - the Ritual Ceremony of the Voladores, which is believed to date back to 600 BC. According to tradition, during a time of famine and drought, the elders sent messenger-priests, or Voladores, to present offerings to the gods and ask for rain and fertility for their lands.
