You know what's funny? This woman's voice is incredible, right? Yet by today's "judge" standards on shows like Xfactor, The Voice, Idol etc., they'd likely dismiss her, say it was karaoke, theatrical, etc. - That's what makes most of today's "music" laughable overall. Set it on auto-tune, make it mindless marketing crap, and call it talent.

Oh no...she can really belt the blues! She has a great voice. Anyone that would dismiss her singing as just karaoke is either deaf or just plain stupid.

I'm wondering if this was recorded before or after the Janis Joplin version. I'm betting after because the guitar playing has that thick sustained sound that the hippies made popular. Older Chicago blues has a twangier sound. I am aware she wrote the song but I'm thinking this is not her first version.

I used to like Janis Joplins version until I heard Big Mama. Joplin sounds thin and screechy in comparison.
