@tech2kn0w They didn't... Stern made a vetoe on having him traded to the Hornets and Pau to Houston... Lakers must be a wee bit thankful atleast that Pau didn't have to leave or else they would've been two players short... And even if Chris Paul did come to LAL... I don't think he would be able to do his usual playmaking skills with Derek as his back up...
Odom felt 'disrespected' so he left and went to Dallas instead...
