On our survival camp we decided to have a 'boil-off' to find out which cooker works best and is the fastest at boiling exactly 500 ml of water.
All cookers were primed and where allowed to burn for approx 2 minutes before the pan/pot was placed on the cooker.
Conditions where very damp but it was not raining at the time, the temperature was approx 10 degrees celsius, altitude was approx 70 metres.
From top left to right at the start of the video the cookers are; 1.Trangia with a gas converter kit. 2.Swedish army trangia running on methylated spirits. 3.Standard trangia running on methylated spirits. 4. Hexiblock cooker with 1 block of hexamine, army issue. 5.Jetboil cooker. 6.Optimus crux stove with HE pan. From bottom left to right is a MSR cooker running on petrol and then a 6 sided cheese grater with a hole in the side (similar style to the Honey Stove) running on wood only (solid fuel).

The winner was the one that boiled the water the fastest to a rolling boil with large bubbles the approx size of a five pence piece.

Watch the video for the results!
