Through a special arrangement, we are very lucky that Master YanSong (延松師傅), kindly agreed to offer a weekly Shaolin Wellness class to our alumnae. The Shaolin Wellness class (少林養生功) aims to build better health, create a feeling of well-being, train for flexibility, self-defense and wellness movements. The class is designed for students of all backgrounds, faiths, ages and athletic abilities. Master YanSong specializes in traditional fist forms, Baduanjin, drunken forms, eagle form, Hard Qigong, Shaolin weapon form, the Shaolin classic Yi Jin Jing wellness exercise, Chen and Yang style Taichi. He was admitted into Songshan Shaolin Temple in 1990 at age 10. Under the guidance of Abbot Shi Yongxin he soon excelled in Buddhist studies and Kung Fu training. His profound level of mastery in Shaolin Kung Fu led to his appointment as Head Coach of the Shaolin Kung Monks Corps and Deputy Director of Shaolin Temple Guards Institute. He has visited over 40 countries as a member of the Shaolin Kung Fu Monks Corps representing Songshan Shaolin Temple in official capacities and Shaolin Kung Fu exhibitions. He is a member of the original cast of the British produced Wheel of Life in 1,500 performances of the theatrical production. Master YanSong is well known and highly respected in Chinas martial arts community. He has served as advisor, coach and head judge in many martial arts competitions.
