  • Franken will get primaried. Democrats should really thank Republicans for vetting this cartoon character who would get destroyed in an election because he's such a bumbling moron.

  • Okay, so let me understand something. You are a Republican, right? Meaning that you are against gay marriage, most likely. Probably not even in favor of civil unions, I would guess (not going out too far on a limb with either of these). Yet, you are now flying to the defense of gays against this ridiculously inane joke? Yeah, that's what we like to call in the midwest... a bunch of bullshit. Next thing you know, you'll be defending Al Queda because of Al's mean baseball throwing.

  • What conext is a joke about a gay man being murdered in Philadelphia funny? Please explain that to me how THIS is FUNNY:

"I just don't like homosexuals. If you ask me, they're all homosexuals in the Pudding. Hey, I was glad when that Pudding homosexual got killed in Philadelphia." The smile became so broad it pushed his eyes shut.

  • The quote IN CONTEXT:

Franken started to smile again, but his tone was serious, too serious. "It's not preppies, cause I'm a preppie myself. I just don't like homosexuals. If you ask me, they're all homosexuals in the Pudding. Hey, I was glad when that Pudding homosexual got killed in Philadelphia." The smile became so broad it pushed his eyes shut. He couldn't stand it any longer. "Put that in, put that in," Franken laughed, leaning over the desk. "I'd love to see that in The Crimson."

  • The quote in the Crimson is said to be "taken out of context" or is "edgy humor" but if you read the original article in the Crimson, you can see that there is no "context" to take the quote out of.

And the murder was quite real. Franken was joking about the 1975 gay-bashing murder of Knight-Ridder newspapers heir John Shivery Knight III to the Harvard Crimson in 1976. Franken begged the reporter to put the quote in The Crimson...

  • Al Franken's pretty funny & it's sad that you have to take so many things out of context in order to attempt to destroy him. Your life and self esteem must be pretty low. If you don't care for his ironic & often sarcastic sense of humor, that's one thing, but these clips you have posted are simply intended to smear him. Why not just DISAGREE substantively? I suspect it's that you are too intellectually lazy to or cowardly to confront his politics. You'd rather distort like a Carl Rove clone.

  • I like Al Franken.

  • All he's doing is saying name's and if I were the biggest democrack on earth I still woulden't think he's funny.
