I miss bklyn Mod and Soul (where General Greene is). I remember when people avoided using the term Fort Greene because of it's association with The Projects. Clinton Hills was what most people called the area. That whole area had been colonized. The rents are through the roof and the natives of relocated. Stuy Heights comes close to Clinton Hill. Just make sure you own if you intend to stay though

I've lived in Ft Greene 16 years now, and I've watched the change. Still, there's no other neighbourhood in NYC I'd rather be. The day I leave Ft Greene, is the day I leave NY state!

Takes me why didn't I but when I had a chance. I like the quiet in my new state but it is a great time to be in BK right now but The right areas in ATL can bring a certain calm.

I visited bed stuy three years ago: it was really cool. I've always been fascinated with NY boroughs, especially BK. Being from chicago, maybe i'm romanticizing it a little bit, but i always thought about moving there.

I moved from the Jamaican enclaves of East Flatbush to the intelligentsia of Park Slop and Bed Stuy only to see gentrification raise it's massive head and attempt to commodify the thunder that heads like we created. I'm not phased though. We will always rise and Medina will always be our petri dish. Be 'bout it and we can do it! Excelsior!

Fort Greene, 1 South Portland Avenue, my old crib. The best block in Fort Greene. Fort Greene was bomb in the 80's and 90s, times when you could roll up in a house party and not even know who was throwing it. My people use to promote comedy at Sheilas which later became Brooklyn Mod (this was beginning of the end). Cinos best Italian restaurant on Dekalb. Ralphs Deli on Lafayette and South Portland. LG, Fort Greene Projects, Myrtle Ave, Kum Kau, Dean Street Cafe. Mike's for breakfast on Sunday.
