This compliation shows how we shot much of the aerial footage from End of the Spear with a Wescam follow helicopter. The footage features a totally-restored Piper PA-14 that matches the actual plane flown by the missionary on whose story the movie is based. For even more info visit

thats not a pa-14. is it? I wouldve thought it was a Pa-12 super cruiser.

Very nice video! Cool to see both the camera's perspective as well as the camera platform! Which company was operating/ renting the Camera?

The beauty of the Wescam. I fit and tech these almost every day (heavy S.O.B.'s) either side or nose mounted, as well as Tyler mounts and CineFlex. Thats the beauty of my job, working in the motion picture industry. Back crushing rigs though, and a nightmare to balance in the wind (keep that bubble in the circle!).

They weren't there to fight, they were there to spread God's word. Kinda hard to hear the Good Word over the clatter of an AK-47.

you may be an ag pilot, but apparently you've never had to land on a gravel bar. that's pretty good especially for a 1947 PA-14. Very little suspension and small tires

Yup! The family cruiser is a PA-14, and I think it came out about that year.
