Phil Silvers was a really, REALLY great performer. And many people say was a sweet guy.

I always mix up Phil Silvers with Richard Deacon, the man who played Lumpy Rutherfords father on Leave It To Beaver.

turns out that the great singer-diplomat Harry Belafonte was scheduled to appear, and Belafonte did in fact make his appearance the next week.
