MUSIC 122 STAGE VOICE/ MID TERM RECITAL/ FRIDAY, OCT. 14, 2011
I really appreciated this "assignment" given to me by our instructor, Tina Herbeck, of Antelope Valley College, Lancaster, CA. To chose a female artist, cover the song, and make it "my own". This was to help the individual artist in me and to create pretty much my own version or "cover" of this amazing song by such a fantastic artist; Celine Dion.
This song, as well as (When You Love A Woman--Journey), has meant a lot to me. I wanted to deliver these types of songs in recognition of where I am in my life; the love for my "better half", Katia, the love for my children, and the examples of love I have received from my parents. To have had such great experiences it is only natural to share and to ask others... "Have you ever been in love?"
Unfortunately, there was a particular "coda" that was slightly missed at the end of the song by our pianist. It happens, but he really did a great job playing for us during this recital! LOL I think we played it off pretty well though. Good example of, "... if and when a mistake happens, don't stop, the show must go on!" LOL My years of experience, I guess, in "ad libbing" pulled me through this one. I think our whole class that day had a lot of fun perfroming and finding our true voices. Thanks Tina!
