Surf Session: China Walls 04/18/08

South Swell brings good times as the tide rises for another surf session report. We go to China walls on the east side and get a birds-eye view of a classic surfbreak. The runs along a jagged wall and crashes up against a jutting out rocky ominous corner. The trick is to catch the wave and find the sweetspot where the energy of the wave bounces off the wall. So you can build up the speed to beat it on down the line. The music is from a fun Hawaiian style band from New Jersey called the Hoppin' Haole Brothers. Great day for a good short sharp surf session, ENJOY.

Band: The Hoppin' Haole Band ......... Song: "Butter"

  • Hey, why giving away the spot. take this off please

  • @chews4life 1. Have you ever gone to ABC Stores and seen those Surf Maps?

    2. Have you ever heard of Google Earth? Haven't you seen all the surf spots listed there?!

    3. I can name more than 5 other posts on youtube from china walls just this year and mine is from way way way back in 2008

  • @tomestokes 1. how many surf movies of china walls do u see in ABC stores? 2. theres a difference between reading about and watching video of a surf spot 3. your video sucks

  • @bintangbomber Do you really think i give a rat's ass what you think? No. The junk surf video you posted probably pissed off a few folks in Bali, so who are you to speak. Since your dad shot it, i won't make fun of the shooting. However the editing sucked and you didn't even credit the band. real cool man. BTW your guitar playing sucks, i would be embarrassed, to post what you did. I guess you think you're some kind of second coming of jimmy page, your wrong, don't quit your day job. Get a life.

  • Nice vid. Grew up in the area back in the day - late 60's early 70's. No houses, no signs, no parking problems. Learned how to paipo at the Point. On big days the waves stretched from the point out towards Diamond Head, maybe 300+ yards. That's why it was named China Wall, like the Great Wall. Good times brah, thanks for the post . Aloha no.

  • 3-4 feet Hawaiian scale, so it measures it from the back of the wave, instead of the face which would be in the 5-8 foot range. hope that made sense
