watched from the turns for years, but NOTHING gives the "shot from a rifle" sense of speed like behind the pits at indianapolis! thumbs up, thanks for posting

I was there that day. A fun day of speed. In fact, I was in the upper deck on the outside of Turn 1 where the camera panned for a couple of seconds. Tom Carnegie on the PA calling speeds and new track records, John Totten calling the action on the track and Jim Phillipe doing the interviews. All three are gone now and the big crowds on pole day are gone as well. Those were the days. Thanks for posting!

That came as close to capturing how it felt to be in the stands on Pole Day back then as anything I've seen on film. I miss those days.

Hopefully someday Indy will see that kind of wonder and enthusiasm again!
