  • Hi Batblat - well it won't tunnel out unless there is another waveguide adjacent that the evanescent wave can tunnel into, or something. There are many applications of quantum tunneling, e.g. the scanning tunneling microscope, allowing imaging of atoms on a surface.

  • Thanks for posting, this is a nice demo. It's great to see tunnelling effects on a graspable scale. What sort of applications does this sort of stuff have in the real world? It seems like it would be next to impossible to fully contain a microwave signal in a waveguide if it can tunnel out
