Actually, scientists are NOT the actual leaders running the world. Check history, check the news. When was the last time anyone voted a practicing scientist into the most powerful positions in public office, in any one of the world's countries? And how often do scientists control politicians? It's mostly the other way around: politicians/political blocs are the ones who spend most of their time trying to control everyone and everything--including scientists--even if it means oblivion.
