What better metaphor is there for the AMPTP than the oppressive Empire in the Star Wars saga?

This semi-lighthearted piece is one fan's expression of what it just might take to get the money the WGA deserves (metaphorically speaking of course).

Keep fighting WGA. You deserve everything you're asking for!

Take the producers out of the equation and the best the writers will be able to hope for in the future is that someone will make their story for free and post on Youtube. You are killing an industry, and the greed is all yours - you negotiated a fee, you got paid. Try telling guys on minimum wage, and even a normal wage, that you are not getting a fair deal.

I'm not a WGA member, nor am I a Hollywood writer. I am a fan of the industry, and I whole heartedly believe that if moguls are making money on what the writers create beyond the initial releases, the writer deserves to have their cut too.

Again, I say that the ideas come first. They in effect create jobs for those lower wage workers. It's not the writers who set the wages for them. Other unions have the right to strike if they feel they aren't being compensated fairly for their work.

Technically very well made, though myself, many of my friends, and 15,000 others aren't laughing as we don't have jobs anymore and many of us lost our jobs before Christmas. No, we're not writers. We're show crew, and we are the ones getting screwed. We get the work stoppage with no benefits when we return.

And many, if not most, of us feel, it is time for COMPROMISE from both sides, though the WGA seemed strike happy and many of us feel they're the ones delaying the talks.

I am very sorry for you and others who are out of work because of this strike. Every single day I wake up hoping to hear that it's over.

I wish the AMPTP would make a deal that is fair , so that everyone could move ahead. Without the writers there would be no shows to go back to.

If they give up now, the last 3 months were a waste of everyone's time. Besides that, this deal sets precedents for the other unions, so this fight is for more than just the WGA in my eyes.
