Are you sure this isn't her voice? Apparently Ava had a very good singing voice. Her actual voice is on the Showboat album, although not in the movie itself, and from what I've read, her voice was very good and would've been perfect for her character in Showboat. Very bluesy and sultry singing voice. Pure Ava.

Ava had a lovely voice but the studio always wanted to dub her.

The video of Ava singing in "Show Boat - Ava Gardner's own voice - Can't Help Lovin' That Man" was really her own voice I believe. She was dubbed by Annette Warren in the movie as most reading this is aware of. Compare to Ava singing "Bill" in the video "Show Boat - Ava Gardner's own voice - Bill" also in what I think is her own voice, says it all. There was never a need to dub Ava and they did so at Ava's loss as well as MGM's.

This is vocalist EILEEN WILSON singing for Ava Gardner. Ava had a passable voice but it certainly wasn't as smooth or rich as this - Eileen Wilson sang for many movie stars back in the day.

Hi. Yes I have listened to Ava's Showboat recordings and she had a very nice voice. She was very upset that her own voice was not used. Do you ever go to the youtube site LostVocals 1,2 or 3? The person who runs that has all kinds of non-dubbed vocals from stars of all era's and Ava is one of them. It's a really good site. Very fun to listen to.

: gatabella is right. She was always dubbed in the movies she made. Too bad, since she had a wonderful sensuality in her voice. Try and listen to the Show Boat recordings.Lovely!
