I've covered a few original songs written by my fellow youtube artists but, this is my first official collaboration. Rob sent me a poem and asked me to set it to a blues vibe, which I was happy to do. Since poems and music lyrics are not the same thing, setting poems to music can be very tricky. Some editing is almost always needed in order to blend the words with the music as seamlessly as possible and special care must be taken in order to preserve the essence of the poem. However, in this instance the process was fairly straight-forward and required a minimum of editing. Rob requested a blues-based format for the song and the poem he presented lent itself to that form beautifully. Rob writes some great lyrics and is an avid promoter of musicians and songwriters and their music, check his channel out when you can.
